samandkennasmom
So I thought I would get ahead of my game and get my wax melting while I place a few orders for some new oils..not a good idea! I got so involved in ordering some new Christmas oils I forgot about my full pot of wax. It was 210 degrees. I've never did that before. Could it be used or do I just need to throw it out? Ugh!! Thanks!
jeanie353
Was it soy or paraffin? If its paraffin I'd go ahead and try making a candle. Mine has gotten out of hand a time or two and didn't seem to affect the candles. If its soy...maybe someone who works with it more can chime in. I have heard it should not get above a certain temp but unsure if it would break down the soy to where it wouldn't work again.ETA: Isn't it just amazing how ordering new FOs can cause us to be totally oblivious to anything else?!...lol. ChandlerWicks
Mines gotten up that high, nothing happened. I'm not an expert, so maybe someone else will let you know if something bad might have happened.

samandkennasmom
The sad part is its true! My son called me and says "mom, what are you doing?" and I said why are you calling and asking what I'm doing when your supposed to be in school? Um..school was out 20 minutes ago! OMG!! Oopsie! blacktieaffair
OUCH sweetie , I had you did that but, I gotta laugh....... I really HAVE ruined a PP full of wax. Somehow I had bumped the dial and that sucker went up to 250 and I tried to use it, so I made some melts to see how it behaved with four different scents.. Known "throwers" ............ Let's just say that was a TOTAL waste of FO and time. It wouldn't throw a single molecule of scent LOL . Oh well, live and learn !
joym
If it was paraffin and did not have fragrance in it, you should be able to use it without a problem. for a few candles I make, I have to bring the wax with fo already in it to slightly above 200 for a short time. samandkennasmom
Hmmmm, well I wonder BTA, does 40 degrees make a difference ya think? I guess I could just try it! Could keep it for fire starters I guess. Maybe I could add to the never fails thread..running low on wax and then some ding bat burns what little bit she has left! Oh happy days, right? blacktieaffair
I'm not sure about your particular wax, nor soy ( since mine is para and I've never used soy except in some experiments ). But I did what you said.. I just used the rest of it in fire starters.
SuzyK
I have heated soy wax that high on accident before and I had no problems with throw.
samandkennasmom
Thanks Suzy! I'll have to just give it a try.
jackbenimble
I have heated my soy over 200 and it's fine. No problems with HT. The funny thing is my thermometer in the pot says 200 but my laser themometer says 235. Huh?
rjdaines
If it didn't discolor I would use it.
