franu61
A fellow vendor asked me if I wanted to start sharing a booth with her and split the fee. She makes knitted items and makes a few parrafin pillar candles. ( I make soy container candles)anyway..I'm not sure I want to have both candles at the same booth (her main selling item is knitted but she wants to include the candles) I told her this would be competing against each other..she doesn't think so since they are different types of candles..."and besides I am not competetive" she said, " but that's okay if you are". I think I'm kinda insulted by that statement, but back to the question at hand..should I share with her? My business name says SOY candles and is pretty well known around town so might confuse people to see parrafin pillars. On the plus side tho, would be nice to have someone to talk to at the shows, less cost for booth and help setting up canopy. What would you do? Noodle
I would never share a booth, but that is just me.
adillenal
I could not share since I would not have room for someone else's product. My display is already overflowing plus I am very independent and might have problems with how someone else might want to set up.
TallTayl
I tried it exactly once to help out a friend. Never again.I had the total investment (tent, tables, coverings, cash register, reputation, etc) and she took over the whole thing leaving no room to promote my own business.Business is business. No way, no how ever again. There are plenty of people to talk to and help out at markets and fairs.
franu61
thank you all for the input...I was leaning towards the "no way, no how"...you helped me make up my mind
Noodle
For me, I think that it simply boils does to the fact that people have a certain way of doing things. I just do not need that hassle of clashing when I am trying to make money.

SwissBetty
I use to share a booth with my neighbor who made silk floral arrangements and her husband made metal wall vases..and candle holders. Our items complimented each others very well and we both did well at the few shows we did together. We were both friends and had mutual business practices so it always worked out well. We each managed our own inventory during shows but we also pushed each others items to get that sale and very rarely did a customer walk away without buying something from both us. I don't think I could have ever done it with another living soul..She and I clicked.
