cheezfri
Hi there, I'm not entirely new to M&P but I'm starting up again after awhile. I always did embeds & simple things, and am now trying to use different colors to fill in different sections of cavity molds, such as leaves or cursive writing.I can't find any videos on how to pour such small amounts of soap into the really small indentations in cavity molds. For example, I have one that says "Handmade". I tried using an eye dropper but the amount of soap is so small, it hardens up a bit and doesn't pour nicely. So I tried something simpler and used the eyedropper to just fill in the raised ridge around another cavity, but even that didn't go too well. I had to wait for it to harden and then scrape off the stuff that went into the main section of the mold.I've been reading the soap & candle forums here and am excited to be a part of it! I sure would love it if someone has any tips for me!cheezfri
JanetsCandles
I've used a spoon on a couple of my molds to fill the detail areas. I usually do it hotter than what I would normally pour the soap in the larger mass. I've got a few clay working tools that I use to trim away any spill over. Some detail molds just aren't indented deep enough to actually do this with though.
jeanie353
I picked up this syringe type tool from BB and am pleased with it. I used it on Lavender, Lillies soap mold from Peak and another with bamboo type leaves from BB (I think). http://www.brambleberry.com/Injector-Soap-Tool-P4660.aspx
cheezfri
Thank you all. I tried a syringe very similar to the injector, but it did not slide easily and I kept shooting the soap out all over the place. Maybe this one will work better!I picked up this syringe type tool from BB and am pleased with it. Candybee
For detailing in such small amounts why don't you just use soap paints? I think I have the same "Handmade" soap mold. I can't imagine trying to pour soap in such a tight small space. But if you still want to instead of a dropper I'd use a small piping bag for icing.
