icecold
Anyone have one that does not need a preservative using Beeswax? Also anyone ever use royal jelly? Does that need a preservative if used?
TexasBrat
You don't need a preservative in recipes that are oil based only. I use this product http://www.texasnaturalsupply.com/productinfo.aspx?productid=ISCBBB It helped heel the cracks in my heel and toes from the dry cold weather. I literally had an open sore/crack in the back of my foot that had me limping it hurt so bad. I put some of it on and by day 2 it was all closed up and healed. You can look at their ingredients and maybe come up with a recipe. Edited February 2, 2012 by TexasBrat
iansmommaya
what do you want the salve to accomplish? what ingredients to you have?
icecold
I just want a salve for dry, cracked hands in thewinter and something good for gardeners hands in the summer. I would like to use beeswax, avocado oil, mango butter, cocoa butter and maybe olive oil.
lauramw71
You could make a whipped butter, but I don't know how the beeswax would do in that. Or you could make a lotion bar with those ingredients. Have you looked on swifts site? I think she might have some salve recipes in her anhydrous area. CareBear
Use one of these as a foundation - for relative amounts, and substitute your preferred oils and butters.http://wonderwonderblog.blogspot.com/2010/01/handmade-herbal-salves.htmlhttp://oregontrailsoaps.com/balmsandsalves.phpThere are many ideas out there - google salve beeswax butter...
