AlwaysWondering
I've been over at TBK trading dozens of times looking at colorants for MP soap. Can someone help me with about how much colorant I need for a 1 lb of base? I know this will vary by how deep I want my colors but I have no clue on mica, oxides or the glycerine based liquids. A teaspoon of liquid for 1 lb? Would that be the equivalent of 1/8 teaspoon in a mica or oxide? Any guidance is appreciated.
B@BlissStreet
I hope to see some good free knowledge on this topic. I was gifted a nearly full set of the TKB mica's that I guard with my life~ hate to mix before I get some solid information on what measurements to use these precious powders at? I'll be watching... Candybee
For powder micas I use approximately 1/4 tsp pp of base. Liquid is easier, just use one drop at a time until you get the desired color. If you get a 1 oz of mica powder it lasts a long, long, long, time. I don't remember how many lbs of base it will color but its a lot. Kitn
I start with 1/8 tsp PPB and go up if I want a darker shade. I mix the mica in tiny bit of glycerin then add it to the base.
AlwaysWondering
Very helpful. Thanks! Looks like Mica is preferred over oxides, too.
