any guidelines on coloring?

Any general guidelines on how much powdered oxide you need ppo to color a batch of soap? I realize it depends on how dark you want it or whether it's just swirling or coloring the entire batch but I'm trying to guesstimate to order colors.

I stick to about 1/2 teaspoon to 3/4 teaspoon per lb of oils

I start with 1/4 tsp and go up to 1/2 tsp if need be.

This has been something I've had to learn as I went. Typically I start with about 1/2 tsp. on some of the colorants (most of them except black is less), but if you ever try or use say select shades (which aren't oxides), that's whole different measuring system. I use around a 1/4 of a tsp when it's ultramarines, since I find those colorants to be a bit more vibrant.

When you get around to ultramarines, use water with them to help avoid the spotties that they can leave behind. I love the ones that I do have, but oh what a difference it was mixing the colors with water as opposed to oils.
