Need Wick Suggestion for BeesWax

Recommended Posts

I wanted to make a Beeswax Candle for myself.

I was Wondering if it would be possible to make a beeswax candle in a

26oz apotheray Jar from Candle Science. the dimenions of the jar are

Height 5.5" Inches

Diameter 4" Inches

When I select Yellow Beeswax

on candle Science's Wick Guide

it only goes to candles...

up to 2.5" Inches in Diameter

Any Wick Suggestions for a Starting Point on

Beeswax in this Jar?

I work with beeswax, but honestly not nearly enough to tell you where to start on a candle of that size. One thing to remember, beeswax is very viscous. It needs to be wicked up usually, like soy does. But I'm honestly not sure if you'd be able to get a good burn with a single wick on that diameter. I'd suggest checking into multi wicking.

Truthfully I wouldn't even consider making a container candle with beeswax. It burns way too hot. I have had beeswax votives break the cheap votive glasses.

I totally agree! Square braid wicks are usually the best wicks for beeswax and in a container that size you would really need to double wick. Your glass container would get VERY hot and the chance of the glass breaking would be a big factor. Beeswax is best for tapers, votives, tea lights and pillars.
