Lrhea
Hi Everyone,So I have been watching some of my bar cure over time and some have been steadily losing its shape....the sides become curved and not straight anymore. Any info on why/ how to prevent this in future batches??Thanks!
adillenal
I believe it is due to a high water usage in making the soap and perhaps cut too thin. Had that a few times when I first started since I used full water er milk till I built up some confidence.
Kitn
where do you store your soap?
TallTayl
Sure sounds like evaporation combined with cutting thickness/thinness. Do you use full liquid for your lye solution?
Stella1952
I had some thin-cut bars that, if I did not turn them frequently while curing, would "cup" like a wood board will do when wet on one side and not the other. I turn mine at least once a day - sometimes more often, especially when newly poured. This seems to help a lot. I usually do not use the full amount of water (38%) but discount it to 35% and sometimes even 33% due to the high humidity conditions where I live. Curing in an air-conditioned area helps a lot. Lrhea
I use a 35% water solution... I'm going to try to turn the bars more frequently and put them into an air conditioned room and see if that helpsThanks for the feedback guys... I appreciate it!
