Brenda (OH)
OK - I've been making candles for about 4 years but am kinda curious as to how short everyone trims their wicks before packaging the finished product. I typically trim mine a little over 1/2" for both containers and pillars. I have seen some wicks kept very long and others a bit shorter than I trim mine. Is there a "norm"?Merry, Merry Christmas BrendaEdited to add a ? at the end of my sentence - LOL

Trish
1/4" here too. I use the handy dandy wick trimmer!
AngelaVA
The other day I was in Plow and Hearth. They had Beanpod candles (I think that's the name, I haven't heard of them before). Well, the wicks on these candles were at least 2" on some and 1.5" on others. I'm not joking either. They were so long that they had to be squished down into the jar, so the lid could go on. Crazy. But that's beside the point. Trim to about 1/4".
sharyl55
Since my use instructions say to trim the wick to 1/4" before burning, that's how I sell them. Don't want to confuse the customer.
