donna4909
I'm getting some palm wax soon, and am considering the different wick choices. I want a wick that will leave a thin shell, similar to a hurricane. What type/sizes would make this happen a 3" palm pillar?I'll probably be buying wicks from pourette, as they're about the only place I've found that sells wicking in 3 & 25 yard lengths, and ships priority mail. Henryk
You can try an LX 22 (or similar) or lower, see: http://www.candletech.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=veggiewax;action=display;num=1109546860;start= It seems the wicks with NTS2 treatment (LXs =>24, and RRDs) work best in these waxes IMO.HTH
siberia
Henry is spot on! Oh and another option...candlescience.com carries spooled LX.
donna4909
Pourette didn't have the LX wicks, so I just looked on eBay. I found some that were in lots of 25 for $3. I know I overpaid, but I needed several different sizes, and I didn't have enough money to buy 100 packs of all 4 sizes.I got:LX 14, LX 18, LX 22, and HTP 52 (for votives)Got 25 of each for about $16 after shipping. $15 was my budget, so I guess it worked out.I plan on testing these in 2" pillars, 3" pillars, and votives. I'll be using palm, soy, and paraffin, so surely I can find a use for most of them.
pdevine
I would be curious to find out how these wicks do in the 2" pillar. I tried SOOOOO many wicks on that mold and never could get it wicked to my liking. The LX's are about the only one's that I didn't try. Please post your results. TIA Portia
guppygirl
For a 3" in palm I've found the RRD47 to work best - of course that doesn't help if you don't have any! I've got a bag of these that eventually I'll use, but if you PM me and I'd be happy to send you a couple.

This is for many different types of wicks like RRD, LX, CD, CDN, ECO. http://www.lscs.com/wicks.htmlhttp://candlescience.com/http://scentedbean.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=36&osCsid=96eca874012e68a8a499160d5fa9cdc6Here are a few website that sell sample kits. They are usually any where from $7.00 to $10.00 per kit. I have been finding some places will even send samples for free. Candlescience and Candlewic will. Just give them a call.I have been working on wicking my palms for almost a year now. I hope you have better luck than me. santa wink
donna4909
Yep, I know you can get sample packs. Problem is that you can't get them shipped reasonably, and they usually have several sizes you don't need.
