Lisa
What wax is the one that you can do the most with it, and best scent throw? Just want your opinion. Thanks
topofmurrayhill
The type of wax you can do the most with is straight paraffin wax. However, you need to learn about the additives to use with it.There's not much difference in scent throw between paraffins. It depends primarily on how you formulate the candle.Paraffins with melt points between 138 and 143 are commonly used to make pillars. Among the popular ones I would probably suggest IGI 1274 and Candlewic 4045H as being the most flexible. If you are more interested in a pre-blended pillar wax (with additives already in it), they're all pretty similar. You can't make as many styles of candle with them.
Trish
Top, isnt 1274 only available in Canada? I use IGI 1343 and love it. I would love to try the 4045H, but that wax is on the complete opposite side of the country...
Scented
No, it's available in the states also Trish. It's primarily a mottling wax. I use 1343 as well and love it. I'd be tempted to try some 4045H just from my bud Steve's ravings, but alas I don't think I'm up to paying for shipping right now.
wvcandleguy
I use OK6228 for my votives and pillars. I also use a blend of j223 and 6228 for my tarts... its a good solid wax. Seems to take color and FO well.... have not tried really bright or dark colors yet.. thats next on the list.. lol

topofmurrayhill
Ahh, okay. My bad!You may have been thinking of 1245 and 1242.IGI 1274 is the "mottling wax" - very similar to 1343.
