momscandles
I have another question what is the difference in the wick types. Is cotton better than zinc or vise versa? Thanks for the help in advance!
Fern
Zinc wicks burn the coolest, while the cotton wicks burn the hottest. I don't know if one is better than the other, however; I prefer the cotton because they burn hotter and mushroom less than the zincs, in addition...they don't leave that unsightly zinc stem when it burns down. For those of you that love your zinc wicks...don't shoot me...it's merely a personal preference.
Kaybee23
As far as one being better than another, I think it really depends on the application and personal preference.
SheilaW
Atkins & Pearce has excellent information on wicks. In fact sometimes I still refer to it. The first link will tell you about the wick type and the second link gives pool diameters for each size. Cruise around the site and read. ( I printed the pages out for easy reference.) Also you can give them a call and tell them your wax ,container, pillar size etc. and they will send you free sample size/type wicks to test.http://www.braidway.com/Wick%20Page/catalog.htmhttp://www.braidway.com/Wick%20Page/New%20Rate%20Charts.htm
AngelaVA
I agree with Fern. I hate that zincs mushroom, but they burn the best for me in my wax, so I use them. You just have to test to find the wick you like the best.
