Darbla
I'm thinking of trying these, and from looking at pictures it is just slices from a long loofah sponge that has melted soap poured over it and allowed to set up. Is this correct? What is good to cut the loofah up with? Just a regular kitchen knife? When using these, do you just continue until it no longer suds up and then toss the loofah piece? TFCbrooke
Correct - add FO and coloring if you wantA serrated kitchen knife - of if you have one - an electric knife (much easier)And if you have them - the silicone muffin pans are super easy to use - the loofahs usually fit quite nicely in there. CreativeRewards
When using these, do you just continue until it no longer suds up and then toss the loofah piece? That's pretty much what I do yes. I use the soap/loofah as a scrubby on it's own, when the soap is gone, I toss the loofah and grab a new one
CandleMama6
Thanks Creative!! About how long do they last?
Candybee
I haven't tried loofah in my soapmaking yet. I always wanted to try it. Saw some pics in the soap section a while back and they looked fantastic. I've got customers that love scrubby soap so I should try it with the loofah sometime. CreativeRewards
Thanks Creative!! About how long do they last?It really depends, when I put it in a M&P soap, it usually lasts me about 3 weeks. If I put it in a CP soap, using one of my harder recipes it lasts even longer
CandleMama6
It would be the M&P soap Creative. I have never done CP and would not even know where to start. I have some M&P coming from the recent co-op so I will try some when I get it. Now I just have to find the loofahs at a good price.Plus, 3 weeks is actually really good when you think about it. At my house, a regular bar of soap only lasts 3-4 weeks depending on how many showers my littles think they need. One last question, about how thick do you slice the loofah? CreativeRewards
One last question, about how thick do you slice the loofah?I usually slice them somewhere between 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch depending on how deep the mold is I'm using. Usually though it's closer to 1/4 inch
CandleMama6
Thanks so much for all your help. Not sure what to use to mold them, but I can't wait to try them.

CreativeRewards
ohhh i have wanted to try this too! i wonder how they would turn out being in a pvc mold.... hmmmI've done them in PVC, I did it wrong though I think LOL I stuck the whole loofa in then poured the soap over it, thinking I could just slice it later. It sliced, but it wasn't very clean because the loofa is pretty hard.

CandleMama6
Just watched this video the other day it's a how to for loofah M&P.The lady in the video says to spritz the loofah with alcohol but I have never seen that mentioned. Anyone do this?
CandleMama6
Anyone know about the spritzing with alcohol? Also, do you wet the loofah first?
Darbla
Watch the video again. She answered both those questions.
CandleMama6
The reason I ask is that I have not read anywhere else where you spritz it with alcohol. Also, wouldn't the water create problems later? I am new to M&P so I just want to cover all the bases before I start these is all.
