PattyZB
I made some M&P soap last week and have had it sitting in my work area. It (all the smaller ones from molds and bars from another batch) has this 'coating' on it. It brushes off but I'm not sure what it is. I read somewhere on here about something like this but thought it was for CP...now I can't find that thread.
kestagano04
Here is a thread about M&P... Actually nevermind, not really the same thing. I'll look around a bit more to see if I can find what your talking about. Edited September 12, 2009 by kestagano04
kestagano04
Could it possibly be this?http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8020&highlight=coating+m%26p
PattyZB
My workshop's in the garage so maybe it is a humidity/moisture issue. Makes sense with the temperatures changing so much recently.
elfcat
Could your soap be "sweating"? Without actually seeing them I couldn't tell for sure but it is a pretty common thing with bases that have a really high glycerin content or if the humidity goes up. It can sometimes have a crystalized bumpy look to it.
Candybee
Does it look like tiny crystals or fuzz? That would be from the glycerin pulling the moisture out of hot humid air and forming crystals on the surface of the soap. It easily wipes off but can look pretty yucky. PattyZB
FUZZ! That's the perfect word to describe it! Thanks!!!But what did I do? Or is it just because I have it in the garage and should move my workshop into the basement.
Starr
It sounds like sweating, I had that problem with A LOT of my soaps up in the attic at our old place. If you can change locations even just for storing, you might find that the problem goes away or at least reduces.
DeAnna_EC
wrap them in saran wrap tightly and keep them out of humid area's, try storing in a dark place, like a closet.I keep mine wrapped, in a paper bag, in a box in the closet. If you have to store them in a garage, still wrap them tightly and maybe put them in a tub with a tight lid.
PattyZB
I'll have to move them to my 'craft room'/spare bedroom. So much to learn! lol
Platypus Moon
Do you have high humidity where you live? we do here and my MP soap sweated like that, i stopped using it for that reason.
