Farmhouse Treasures
Since my fo are oil based what do you add to it to make room spray? I use to think I could add something like uncented baby oil but wouldn't that make it leave a oily film on whatever you sprayed it on.Bonnie
Winter_Willow
I use the recipe with witch hazel and distilled water with my FO.
Sharon in KY
1/2 90% alcohol and 1/2 dist. water, FO depending on scent throw. I have a thing against Witch Hazel, hate the smell, so it might be better. Just can't get myself to try it.
Farmhouse Treasures
Thanks ladies, since the fo is a oily substance, when you use the alcohol and water with your fo does it mix or does the oil seperate?Sharon I love your signature comment. Guest Ox_B_love
i just use water and FO and my room sprays turn out great and last long, is there anything wrong with using just water?
Sharon in KY
i just use water and FO and my room sprays turn out great and last long, is there anything wrong with using just water? It's probable just as good just may not dry as fast, as long as the mist is super fine. I have refilled a bottle with just water and the scent is still there. The plastic absorbs enough to scent the water. It worked great with KY's Wildberry Crisp, but they don't sell it anymore. Darbla
Or you could buy a room spray base or cyclo. HTHI think someone said before cyclo would make hardwood floors slippery so better not to use it? I wouldn't want it gunking up carpet either. Scented
i just use water and FO and my room sprays turn out great and last long, is there anything wrong with using just water?water and oil don't bind. Try putting your FO and water mix into wax. If you add just the FO, it will bind with the wax. If you add water, it won't. Water should be distilled or filtered so that other residues aren't being sprayed elsewhere. You should also be sure, if you're using straight tap water, of what's in your water. Your city would have that specifically broken down since cities are required to test.
Meredith_D
Would bacteria grow in a water based spray?
Scented
I would think so. It does in other places.
Karen M
I have wood floors and carpet and I have not encountered this problem with cylo at all, you only need 1 or 2 sprays anyway in a fine mist sprayer. I have used it with no problems at all. JMO:)

I use aluminum bottles and shake. I don't use clear bottles cause sometimes it looks cloudy.
Brenda (OH)
I also really like the body spray base from KY.JaneI also have used KY's base but sometimes certain oils would not incorporate well and require a good shakin'. I have found The Candlemaker's Store base to incorporate the hard to blend FO's better.
southern.scents
I use the linen base from Gelluminations.com . I find that it works great. FO incorporates very well even at high percentages (don't ask me how I know, lol....still using that mistake...)
