JudyN
I just bought some dye blocks and wonder if the people who use these use a grater or ????
Tanya
Sure you can use a grater if that's the easiest for you. I've used a carrot peeler as well and just a knife.
RhondaP
I use a knife to scrape off the amount I need. I do small batches, so it's pretty easy to do it that way. If I did bigger batches, I'd probably use a grater and weigh it.

Fire and Ice
Hi I use the blocks and use a knife but I do good size batches too.
topofmurrayhill
Even if you do small batches it's easy enough just to cut a piece off with a craft knife or straight edge razor. Seems less messy and wasteful than grating. I use a gram scale to weigh the amount for duplicating colors. I calculate anywhere from .1 to .3 percent or so.
