8-GRAN-ONES
Is there a difference in Palm Kernel Flakes, and PKO? Why do you like one over the other? And also the difference in Palm Oil Homogenized RBD No Stir & Palm Oil RBD? Also why one over the other?..I was just wondering about these...Also are they the same on the soap calcs? Do they formulate the same in soaps? Just new enough to soaping, and really don't know the difference..
Jcandleattic
As far as I know PKO and PKO flakes are the same, just come in different forms. The PKO flakes seem to be a bit more expensive, but I think it's because of the convenience factor. It's much easier to weigh out the flakes than it is to chunk off the PKO solid. I prefer the flakes to the solid PKO but as it is, I'm lazy and it's just much easier for me. LOL As for your second part of the question, sorry. I don't know. topofmurrayhill
Palm kernel oil can come unhydrogenated or hydrogenated to varying degrees. I suspect the flaked form is slightly hydrogenated. Coconut oil can vary in this way too (that's the difference between the 76 and 92). It doesn't necessarily change the SAP value but it's liable to affect the soap qualities a bit. diamondk
I have used both types of the PKO and I also find the flakes easier to use.
