lwaltmann
Is it possible to make dipped tapers out of soy or palm. If so, how? I have tried and have only gotten ugly sticks after several dips. Thanks for any help.
Stella1952
I have not tried soy, but we did do some hand-dipped palm tapers. They were hideously ugly (I will not repeat the rude comments about trolls and their private parts), but they burned well and made great drippies for drip freaks to enjoy. I DO want to try these one more time as I think I have an idea of how to avoid the warts...
lwaltmann
Thanks Stella. Same thing with soy and I understand about the trolls, but you were right. Please let me know how your other trials come out. Thanks.
ChrisR
Soy makes a great molded taper when you use a silicone mold and 2/0 square braid wicking!!
HeavenScentU
That is funny! I was thinking about making soy tapers and wondered if that would work... I woke up from a deep sleep thinking about them... I am going to try them tomorrow and see if it can be done.. I am going to keep my fingers and toes crossed that hopefully they will work. heidijo
My SO loves the short paraffin tapers from IKEA and asked me to try them with soy wax. I'm planning on ordering some P-1 wax from genwax.com but am having trouble finding 6" tall taper molds. Any suggestions where to look for shorter taper molds? ChrisR
I recommend these molds.....they're the best. Soy and even beeswax may occasionally stick, so I do spray the inside with a silicone mold release. http://www.mannlakeltd.com/catalog/page105.html

ChrisR
I forgot to add that you may want to order this wicking needle so you can wick your silicone taper molds!! http://www.betterbee.com/products.asp?dept=
Violetsexoticcandles
OMG I love the lighthouse one! I wish I could afford to buy it. Sigh... I recommend these molds.....they're the best.
