  2. Here is a site I found that has sillicone pillar w/ one heart on it. Hope it helps.
  3. Anyone know what is the best wick to use for tapers poured in metal molds sold by candles and supplies.com? Thanks
  4. Thanks Stella. Same thing with soy and I understand about the trolls, but you were right. Please let me know how your other trials come out. Thanks.
  5. Is it possible to make dipped tapers out of soy or palm. If so, how? I have tried and have only gotten ugly sticks after several dips. Thanks for any help.
  6. Anybody know what is the lowest temp that you can store made palm candles? (both pillar and jar) I am storing mine outside in an enclosed canopy. Maryland can have it's cold seasons down to below freezing. Also if I pour them outside, I know it will harden faster, but will that take away from the starburst or feathering effect? Thanks for your help.
  7. Thank you very much. That sounds excellent. Will try both.
  8. I need help. Tried everything from glue dots to glue gun (yuck messy), but the wax is to hot and the wick tab goes loose. Also, what is the best way to get your wick straight? Thanks for any suggestions.
  9. I have had the same problems and tried everything. Now I take the wick pin and poke it through the mold hole and I put mold sealer on the base of my wick pin to seal pin to mold. It holds most of the time, but if I have leakage it is very little and I put my molds on a screen with a catch pan underneath. You might have to balance your mold a little if you have the straight oct molds. I pull the candle from the mold and than wick it and heat gun the bottom to secure the wick or use a wick with a tab on it. Hope this helps
  10. thanks for all the info. I have thought about melting wax out of ones, that's a last resort. Will check out walgreens and cvs, did not think of that. Thanks again.
  11. I don't think you are a true candle maker until you do something like that. It's the suppense of wanting to see your creation and not being able to wait. Have done it many times and I still do it, but not as much. But here is a topper. I was pouring a 3x6 oct pillar, palm wax, and had it balancing on a jam jar to catch the leaks. Yep, you guessed it, mold tipped over, hot wax all over kitchen floor and counter, my wife was livid, until I just scraped it up and cleaned her kitchen. Thank goodness for natural wax. Easy clean up.
  12. Palm wax is great, but takes a lot of hit and misses. I have used all kinds of wicks and most of them work fine. The problem I have is keeping the wicks straight (when using spooled htp, cotton ect.) and avoiding leaks. Tried everything from plugs, screws, tape, sticky stuff. If your wick is not straight, your candle wax will not melt straight down, and cause a mess. I have finally found a solution. Wick pins are wonderful. And I use primed rrd40 wicks. Works great. Candles burn straight down (most of them, remember there are lemom candles too, nothings perfect). Hope this helps.
  13. I have had the same problem. You can add about a tbl spoon of stearic acid to a lb of wax and it should release at least it did for me. Also, try mixing the starburst with the feathered or granite (from CS) comes out with amaizing patterns. If you use the granite alone, put stearic acid in it. It won't release even with mold release. Also, if you want to save money, veg oil coated lightly in your mold works perfect for release. That's all I use now if needed.
  14. I am trying to find those fall color crocks without wax to make for upcoming fall craft fairs. Would appreciate any help. Dollar stores only have the filled with wax ones. Leroy Waltmann lwaltmann2001@yahoo.com
