cestlavielumiere
Hi I am a newbie to soaps and I was looking to the experience for advise. Does anyone know of a great kit that I can use to start to see if I would like making soaps? I am looking for a new challenge. Could I use my pesto pot for soaps also? Also any links that I could go to with "soap making for dummies?"
Tereasa
www.millersoap.comwww.teachsoap.comSorry, can't help you with a kit... I'm just jumping in without one. I'm sure that someone will chime in with some very sage advice regarding that though.
Angel91805
Are you looking to make melt & pour or hot/cold process soap?
cestlavielumiere
I am trying to start with the basics and work my way up. I think that I would like the melt & pour possible. What is the finite difference?
Carriegsxr6
melt and pour is basically soap already make. you just melt it back down and add fragrance and color, then re-pour into a mold to harden.if you want to make your own soap entirely from scratch, then use the CP meathod
cestlavielumiere
What is the CP method? Sorry, no clue.
Crafty1_AJ
The cold process method. This is making soap from scratch, using lye, liquid and oils to create soap. You can learn about that from the www.millersoap.com website.
cestlavielumiere
Which method is most commonly done? The Cold Process Method seems really hard from what you have just told me. I am a novice chemist by far (The Justin Wilson Way of Chemistry/ Formula.... and cooking also LOL). I am assuming that this way is a little more expensive. I am sure it will take a beating in the cost of labor when figuring in the price.
salli
I started with M&P (2 batches) and got totally hooked on soaping. For me CP is challenging in that you have to pay close attention to what you are doing and it is also a great creative outlet at the same time. elitenaildesign
I started with MP, but got bored quickly although it is fun to do. But Cp is very fun too. Read the miller site front to back. I learned a ton off that site. After a couple batches you really get the hang of it. I dont think CP has to be expensive. My first and still favorite recipe has just coconut oil, palm oil and olive oil and lye obviously. I tyr really expensive oils, but still think the simpler is my favorite bar yet.
