HarleyGirl
I am considering adding candles to my soap business. If you were to recommend the "must have book for beginners",which would it be? Or maybe 2 or 3 books. I don't know the 1st thing about making candles, so I need to do alot of reading and research. Thanks for any input.Lisa
kandlekrazy
I got some books from the library before I started, but honestly, this is your best resource right here on this forum. Second best would be the supplier sites that offer instructions.
Scented
Aside from here, the two I would recommend are:The encyclopedia of candlemaking andCandle Making by Bob Sherman (A step by step guide from beginner to expert or something like that)

psfponies
The first thing you want to do is figure out what kind of candles you want to add to your line. ie container pillar votive... research what wax would best suit your purpose. I started doing candles about 6 years ago and started with pillar type and paraffin wax. Didnt like the way they came out so I started researching a better wax and ended up going with a container blend and just love the way my candles come out. I only make container candles in two sizes which took me months of testing to get them the way I like them. I would start with one or two sizes otherwise you may be overwhelmed with test burns! This site has been a awesome help also some of the candle suppliers can really help get you started. Also check out youtube theres some really good information on making candles.
