SharonA
I love OK 6228 but it's so hard to get now. I tried 4794 but really did not care for it. Can someone make any suggestions on a good preblended votive wax? Does not have to be a one pour.ThanksSharon
Jane42
Just curious...what don't you like about 4794?
topofmurrayhill
I think 4794 is a good blend, but if you don't like it you can replace your OK 6228 with a different pillar pre-blend. Maybe you can get IGI 4625 more easily. Candlewic also has pillar and votive pre-blends that are worth trying.
SharonA
I don't like the amount of time the 4794 takes to release from the mold. That's the main thing. Also, the melt point is lower than what I like for my votives. In my busy season, I need the votives to come out soon after the 2nd pour and I get that from 6228. We started with 4794 and just never looked elsewhere.
chrisasst
hmm,I take my 4794 out of the mold after the second pour about an hour hour half after...what how soon can you take your out?
DeJae
I ususally can get my 4794 out about 30-40 mins after the second pour, lots of times sooner. In the hotter months I have a fan on low, blowing just about them and not on or at them and it speeds it up to about 20-25 mins after second pour. Aspencreek
Ok, I would suggest having your room a little cooler that you are pouring in. That sounds like your main culpret. I have used 4794 forever and have never had any problems getting them out of the mold.
sudsnwicks
I agree about the room being cooler. In the winter I can take them out in about half an hour as well. But in the summer it is a different story altogether.
Fern
You can still get a steady supply of OK6228 at Tristate Candle Supply in St. Albans, West Virginia. I don't know if this supplier is close to you or not, but they have a wax special going on right now for OK6228 at $1.04/lb.
