Margaritamama
I was feeling all "layered-out" and was so inspired by Tops' beautiful mottle, so I decided to make a plain mottled candle. This one is scented Pumpkin Bread, which I got from Candle Science. This scent is so great - I just love it! Not sure what I think of the mottle though...... Henryk
I LOVE your mottle! The scent is great too - wonder how it compares to the new "pumpkin pie" they have.Stearic shouldn't stop the mottling unless its a high amount correct? Like 10% ? topofmurrayhill
I like the mottle! Not to mention the pumpkiny color.Regarding stearic, it will promote mottling in very small amounts and supress it with progressively larger amounts. Henryk
Candlewic (think its them) is saying up to 5% aids in mold release, 10% and over gives opacity. So would you think 5% is strong enough to kill of any mottling perhaps?

So would you think 5% is strong enough to kill of any mottling perhaps? Not nearly strong enough, unless there's very little mottle to begin with. At 5% you'll see less mottle and more opacity if you compare with a candle that has less stearic, but I would characterize the difference as "noticeable" rather than "dramatic".
