deehovey
I've wicked up as far as I can (62-52-18) with a zinc wick in these 16 oz apothecary jars and I'm still not getting a complete melt pool. If I were to double wick this jar where should I start testing? Or should I give up on the zinc and just say I need to use a CD or HTP with this jar. I'm getting alot of soot with the CD. I haven't finished testing the HTP on this jar. I'm just trying each of the three types of wicks I have with each jar. Is there a better method to this madness? Thanks!Deedra
Scent Cellar
What is the diameter of the jar and what wax are you using?
deehovey
What is the diameter of the jar and what wax are you using? Oh sorry, It's J50 wax and the jar is about 3 3/4" wide, with a bit narrower (3 inch) neck.
Scent Cellar
I would start with two 41Z wicks or the next smallest and go from there.
deehovey
Thanks! I'll try that.
Everito Bandito
I generally use 2 CD 10's as a starting point, but I also use a mixture of about 70% soy - 30% paraffin so soot becomes less of an issue with the addition of the soy.The soy is GB 464 and the paraffin is IGI 4786. deehovey
Hmmm..........I don't have anything resembling a 40Z in my pack that is long enough. Looks like a 44-20-18Z is the smallest I have in that pack that is long enough. I guess I'll start there.
IndyGirl
I would start with 2 51Z wicks. That's what I use in a larger apothecary. :smiley2:
SatinDucky
I would start with two 41Z wicks or the next smallest and go from there.I didn't know there was any size between 36z and 44z...

bugtussle
Try two Z44-32s. I'm afraid 2 Z51s would get too hot in J50. Carole
Trish
If you want to try HTP's, start with the 93's and go up or down from there. It's been a long time since I used J50, but I want to say I used 93's and 104's mostly in that size jar. Good luck!
