traceyy
I have my new 2# slab molds that I used for the first time yesterday. How do I cut these darn things? What is the normal inches for length and width? Or how do I figure this out?
Crafty1_AJ
In my 2 lb. slab molds, the finished bars are approx. 3.25" x 2.25" and an inch thick. I get 12 bars from my 2-lb. molds.
traceyy
ROFL! Well I cut it. Tried figuring out the dimensions in my head, not a good choice! I got 6, yes that's right 6 bars out of a 2lb mold! As of right now they weigh 8.3 ounces. Theya re freaking HUGE! The second cut I used a plastic tray mold I got from MMS and that one worked out much much better. This cutting thing doesnt work for me. I shouldnt be trusted with sharp objects anyway
Lorrie
Why not cut the bars in half?

CareBear
from 2# of oils I get 8 or 9 bars depending on which slab mold I use, but I'm thinking of making them a bit thinner (these are quite SOLID) so I think I'll cut back to 1.8# of oils and see how those go. A couple of weeks ago I cut my first batch from my 2# wood peg log mold (love it, btw), and I just went at it with a slicer. They look great - from the side! End on, they range from just under 1/2" wide to a little over 2". And that's only from one end - turn them around and there's a whole different range of sizes. You'd really think I'd have known better, seeing what I can do to an innocent loaf of bread. Hey, no worries, as long as it bubbles.Jeri
swamp_deb
Cutting is the reason I bought Kelsei molds. If I had to hand cut my soaps they would be classified "pre-primitive" I am cut impaired.
doris
I am cut impaired.I think many of us are. To me, making the soap is the easy part. I use a log mold with a cutter thing on one end, and I still get the occasional wonky bar.
