Morganst
Does the majority add FO after trace? I read somewhere today that you can add fragrance to the lye solution - I've never heard of that. I've always added my fragrance oils post-trace.Is this something new or have I been living under a rock?ThanksSharon
Meridith
You can add it at trace or with your oils and butters. It helps to add it with your oils and butters if you are soaping a difficult one (and soap cool). I do it either way depending on my recipe and FO I am using. Morganst
hmmmm.....i'll have to try it and see what's the difference. So you don't lose anything (scent-wise) by adding pre-trace?Thanks for answering my hundred questions S
CareBear
I add mine to the oils - that way I make sure it's well incorporated, which can be important if you have an FO that makes the soap thicken really fast. Plus I don't forget it in the fun of the swirl!ETA - if the FO discolors the soap and I want a swirl without that - then I can't add it to the oils and add it after I pull out the soap for the swirl (very light trace, or even at emulsification). cindym
I always add my fo to the oils. Even the easy ones. I masterbatch and mix the lye the night before and soap at RT.
SueH
I've always add my FO at trace, maybe I'll try adding to the oils.
ExtasyPunq
I always add it to the oils so i don't end up with a super thick mess that is possible if added after trace.
