  1. Hmm, Not to sure what the B&BW one is like but you can make an oil based massage oil into a gel like consistancy by adding silica powder.
  2. I like this idea best I think. if you do shoose to leave shea avocado in the title though, what about combining them to make sheacado?
  3. I like the WSP suspension shower gel, as it is such a versatile product. you can use it straight as a plain shower gel; add jojoba beads or mica to make it look interesting or sparkle and they stay suspended; add clay and you have a shave gel; add scrubbies like ground apricot or walnut shell for a light scrub, etc... Great possibilities with that one. Who ever you do decide to order from, make sure that you order a bottle of liquid crothix too. Many FO can really thin out shower gel and this stuff works fab to thicken them up again! BTW, what about buying a lotion base with out cocoa butter if your mom is allergic to it? then you could make a matching set. I have gotten some great bases at essential wholesale, the candle makers store, tc labs (now sold at boutique laboratories), new directions aromatics, etc... HTH
  4. The scent works has them. With the newsletter sale they have going on (last day is today) they come out to a very nice price!
  5. I love that scent! Its so fresh and biting. I would gow with maybe a yellow and green swirl.
  6. I would infuse it in oil. Wouldn't it just rot in water.
  7. sepigel 305 (from southern soapers) will work well.
  8. Has anyone found out if these are the A or the B grade from the candlemakers store yet?
  9. I would be very careful about making your own mascara. Something that close to your eye needs to be formulated and preserved properly or you could end up with big problems. I would also have it challenge tested first. There are some brands of more "natural" mascaras and this is one product where it might be better to just buy it instead of trying to make your own so you don't end up with an eye infection or worse. just my 2 cents
  10. Tahiti - tiare France- fresh baked (French) bread Colombia- coffee India- sandalwood or nag champa or amber Australia- tea tree New Zealand- something fresh and outdoorsy. New York- mac apple Alaska- snow fresh Amazon- rain forest London- rain (not a floral spring type though) or earl grey tea Adirondacks- campfire Belgium- chocolate Germany- beer Provence- lavender Long Island- iced tea China- green tea Madagascar- spice Bulgaria- rose Japan- cherry blossom West Indies- bay rum Greece- olive blossom USA- apple pie Bethlehem- frank & myrrh
  11. If you want it more cleansing what about using a foaming bath butter base? Or if you used a different exfoliant like jojoba beads, microderm crystals, polyethylene beads, ground apricot kernel, etc.. That would not dissolve then you could up the liquid soap in your recipe. Don't forget to add a preservative if there is any chance that water could get in the jar or bottle. I have also heard of people adding M&P soap to there scrubs with success so maybe you could try that?
  12. I love the FO Shangri la from AH/RE! Its Lavender and coconut milk. JS has the same thing but they call it coconut milk and lavender, I think. I also really like lavender blended with sweet orange EO.
  13. If the whole point of making these products for your dog is so that they are "natural" then I would stay away from fragrance oils . A dog's sense of smell is much better than ours so remember to use a light hand if you do add scent to anything or it could bother him/her. Many of the healing balm type recipes for people could probably be used on a dog as long as all the ingredients were safe. If you want to buy something already made I have seen some good dog soap listed on etsy.com but even there don't forget to check the ingredients. Just because someone is selling it does not always mean they know what there doing unfortunately.
  14. Vitamin E is an antioxidant, not a preservative. It will keep your oils from going rancid (oxidizing) but will do nothing to prevent the growth of bacteria and molds in a lotion. And if your talking about colloidal silver, I would look into the disease you can get from it before you start using it in any products. It can make your skin turn gray permanently if you use too much- there is a senator that this happened to actually. Maybe it could be used, I don't really know- I would not take a chance though. I believe that they may have come up with some essential oil only preservative systems but I can't remember the names right now. I do remember that they were hard to find, expensive and had very potent smells though. I personally have no problem with unnatural preservatives because I would rather feel confident that I was not going to possibly get an infection or worse from some bad lotion. But if you do go without a preservative I would store it in the fridge and use it up with in a few days. just my 2 cents though. If you do a search for lotion or preservatives in the bath and body subforum you will probably find loads of information.
