Jaye
I've been using 4045H from Candlewic for a couple of years now, but as most of my other supplies come from Candlescience, I was considering switching to their mottling wax. Have any of you had any experience with their IGI 1274 for mottles? Is it comparable to 4045H? I've done a search and found that the 1274 is great for rustics... but couldn't find anything about its mottling ability.TIA! :smiley2:
Vicky_CO
I use the 1274 for mottling with great result I have never used 4045H so I can't give a comparison.
Scented
1274 is a mottling wax. It can act similar to 1343.
Jaye
Thanks guys! Vicky, do you add stearic to the 1274? The 4045H doesn't come with instructions (and I'm assuming the 1274 doesn't either) but I've learned from this board to add 1 - 2 tblsps of stearic per pound to mottles to help with the "sweating". Vicky_CO
Yes I do. But it varies on how much I add. It all depends on what I want to happen.
Jaye
Just when I thought my credit card was safe... Thanks again!
pdevine
I have used both, from both places and honestly, I don't see a bit of difference. I use it for all my pillars and dessert cakes. HTH Portia
Jaye
Thanks Portia! That's just what I needed to hear! Amazingly, there is no difference in the shipping cost from NC to Philly for a 10 lb slab of wax, even though Candlewic are only a half hour's drive from me!
