buying moulds from USA

Recommended Posts

I think!? I've sorted out a paypal account and was thinking it cheaper to buy a few moulds from the US (bakery ones). The ones here are about £12 each.

I've looked at flexiblemoulds and emailed them. anyone had any experience with them?

They've got some lovely things, I had to stop myself!

Don't know how much postage is yet, but hopefully it'll be cheaper all round to buy them from the US

One thing i will add with buyin from the US - watch out for customs charges. If the value is over £18 then you may have to pay shipping charges. If it goes thru a special company, like UPS, you'll always pay if it's over. If it's with USPS you may or may not pay - so be careful, it can be quite expensive as you have to pay handling fees too (i've been unlucky a few times)

I was expecting to be slapped with a customs charge but was lucky and got away with it. My moulds came via Air Mail, and still would have worked out cheaper than buying here WITH the customs fee added so i'm happy :bliss: but yes, its something you have to take into consideration.

Not sure if this will help, but I send items monthly to the UK and Australia. I send everything USPS Airmail, and they have never paid a customs fee, handling fee, or any other fee, and I've been sending over there for 8 years now.

You might get better deals on items right here on this site. Maybe you can use this posting as your announcement. "Looking for molds across the pond" kind of thing. *L*

If you go with flexible molds ginger is great...but I would always check the classifieds first...when I send large boxes of soaps overseas the recipient asks me to write "GIFT" on the label...omg..will I go to jail for doing that????

Technically yes - but it'd very very unlikely, especially if you're not business!!! (and we won't tell anyone!!!)

Though i did read somewhere on the HM Customes web page it doesn't matter if it's classed as a gift or not!!! I think the best way to avoid it (checks all around to see who's watching) is to undervalue the items below $35!!!!!!!!

I've bought from flexiblemolds a few times and had no problems at all. They were shipped via USPS and took about a week to get here. The shipping cost wasn't very much and Ginger is really nice and friendly. I would try to keep under that £18 limit though to avoid any extra charges :D
