Lisa
I order some molds from Peaks, And i also ordered some wick pins, But they do not go on right, when you put them on, They are on even. Did i order the wrong thing? Help please. Thanks
Pam W
Nope, you didn't order wrong. I also ordered some and was disappointed when I found that they wouldn't go inside the mold nor sit level on the pin. I use a big wad of plumbers putty and press the mold down on the pin so that it's level.

Margaritamama
That sucks...... I just ordered molds and wick pins yesterday So I suppose I got to go and buy a bunch of putty.....
ChrisR
I use the wick centering tool that Rob makes in Texas......I know Bitter Creek also sells them. They are much easier than wick pins and I never have to worry about it being slightly off center!! Here's the link so you can see what I'm talking about. http://secure.candlesupply.com/catalog_page.cfm?queries_index=index7&ProductCodeID=40&ProductSubCodeID=
Lisa
Thanks, I think i will ask my friend if he can just cut the pin part off and just add another piece of flat metal on it. I think that will work. I am going to see him tomorrow.

If the base was flat you couldn't seal it around the wick hole.By the way, that wick centering tool that ChrisR mentioned can also center a regular wick pin. Lisa
Well i thought i could use them with the flat tops, I guess not, Thats what you get when your still learning.
Pam W
If you have some mold sealer, put a small glob around the wick pin to seal then stuff a tightly rolled piece of papertowel between the mold & pin stand to prevent wobble. Just about anything will work, even pieces of an old sponge. You just have to make sure you seal around the base of the pin itself. With the flat bottom molds, I pre-wick cause the wick & screw will make the mold wobble. I guess the bowl of beans trick would work.
Lisa
The wick pins, am i suppose to put it inside or just outside of the mold? Thanks can anyone show me a picture of the right way.
topofmurrayhill
Most people use it on the outside but putting it inside isn't unheard of. You won't be able the do that with the flat top molds though. With the flat top molds I like to use the wick centering tool mentioned earler. I guess if your friend can convert them to a flat base that would work too.
Pam W
I really like them better on the inside but the flat bottoms don't allow that. I got some 3x4 FB molds from Peak when they were on sale recently and I really like 'em. The cool candles slip out really easy. A while someone posted a link to a supplier that had 2 1/2' pins that will fit inside the Peak FB mold but I can't find the thread now. SatinDucky
I have flat bottom and concave molds. They work fine on the outside of both. I put a ring of putty around the pin and squish it down, use a level to even it and it holds fine. Inside only works good with the concave.
