erinmfritz
Has anyone tried using palm wax to make hurricanes? It seems to me from my research that you can't get great HT and it is hard to wick but you can't argue that it is a beautiful wax. Hurricanes seem to be a great alternative. Aspencreek
Ok, I am a little confused by what you want to do. A hurricane is usually a just a shell that you then burn a tea light in. You can pour the shell then do another pour inside of it, and I think that might be what you are talking about. I do think a palm wax hurricane would be just absolutely beautiful.Just trying to find out for sure what you are talking about.
erinmfritz
You're right, just a hurricane that you burn another candle inside, possibly one with a better scent throw. I wonder how the palm effect would look lit from within. Just an idea, I haven't even tried to make a hurricane yet...but maybe soon. SatinDucky
My experience with palm is limited, but I don't see it working for a hurricane. It's not translucent in the least. You'd have to get the shell impossibly thin for light to show through. IMO, I don't see any point in making a hurricane if it wont glow.. Donita
I agree with the "Satin Duck"......But try if you must.....sometimes we learn unexpected things......Donita
Candle Man
Since palm is impossible to wick, has very little hot throw and not translucent enough for a hurricane, you could try an everlasting pillar with a tea light or votive insert in the top. Test and see if the palm wax will withstand the heat of the burning insert.
erinmfritz
Thanks for your input. Maybe someday when I get done with my testing I'll try one to see what it does. LOL:laugh2:
