SilverOrchid Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 HI, just wondering if anyones using these and how you would tab them? I bought some to play with from C&S and noticed after I got home that there are no tabs? Unless you hot glue them to the bottom of the jars since they are very sturdy to begin with?TIA,Kristy Quote
Vanmala Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 What is C&S? I thought they weren't marketed to the public yet. I looked at the bottom of the Wood Wick candle I have and it is in a tab. It looks like a special tab that the wicks clips into. Quote
Vanmala Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Just checked C&S.......no wood wicks.Yeah, I thought she meant Candles and Supplies at first but I know they don't carry them. Maybe there is a local craft store named C&S? Quote
BruceCarvesWax Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I hope they weren't just Popsicle sticks?Bruce Quote
SilverOrchid Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 C&S = Candles and Supplies and yes thats where I got them from, they just came in yesterday I think Christina said so no they are not listed on their website yet, The label says " hand crafted by Master Candle Makers." Unity fragrance limited, Latrobe, PA. they look almost identical to the ones called wood wicks that are out. they are most definitely not popsicle sticks, Im not so new at this that I would consider using one. They do not come with a metal tab so I will be calling C&S on Monday. Quote
SilverOrchid Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 P.S They did have 2 candles made with them sitting out to look at, they had been test burned, I didnt see any soot and they seemed to have burned evenly, I did not however have a chance to see how they were tabbed and since they were packed into my order I didnt think to check the bottoms until I got home, I will post a pic of one when I have a chance tonight. C&S is only 10 minutes from my house. Quote
IndyGirl Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Hmmmm...........will have to call them on Monday. If you don't mind how much are they charging for those puppies? Quote
SilverOrchid Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 They are pretty steep in my opinion.. I got them for 7.25 for 12, I dont think I would pay that on a regular basis just got them more to play with and see how they burn. Seems pretty steep?? She said they are only carrying the large for now. Quote
Gravity Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Wow... 60 cents for a wick?!?A friend of mine bought one of the large woodwick jars. While the novelty of it was fun, watching the amount of soot shoot from the top of it while burning quickly turned me off to them. Quote
SilverOrchid Posted January 7, 2007 Author Posted January 7, 2007 Hmm... I didnt see any soot on the ones they had in the shop they tried it on but like I said it was more to try it out than to use it as a permanent wick. Way too much money if you ask me! Will let ya know how they burn. Quote
IndyGirl Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 No wonder those candle cost so much! I guess every fad has it's price! Let us know how they do for you. I could just see dollar bills burning when I did a test burn.....LOL! Quote
Vanmala Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I found the wicks made by the company you posted on Ebay but the auction is over. http://cgi.ebay.com/Wooden-candle-wicks_W0QQitemZ140069967561QQihZ004QQcategoryZ28117QQcmdZViewItemI think it's great they are finally being offered to the public and am excited to see how they burn for you. Sharon in KY Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 When I tried a popsickle stick I just pushed the end of the stick into a wick tab then glued that to the bottom of the jar. It held fine though you might want to add a little glue to the wood and tab just to secure better. I use silicone to glue my tabs so this would be plenty strong. Quote
