ladysj Posted January 3, 2007 Share Posted January 3, 2007 How soon have you tested your soy candles for hot throw? I know the norm is to let them cure for at least 2 weeks. Just wondered if anyone got antsy lol and tested them before. Thanks Kelly It didn't get as dark a red as I wanted but it looks nice and smells wonderful. I may start making pure soy candles. The only soy I've tried was that soy from CandleWealth yuck. Never could get that stuff wicked right or to throw. I would like to try a sample of some soy's. What do you recommend. Sorry to be so long winded lol. Although, I love GL's 70/30 blend. It is true the longer they sit the better but if you can get a good hot throw in a couple of days you know it will only get better in time. I'm test burning it now and the hot throw is wonderful. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I remember reading somewhere that soy is bad about mushrooming on wicks. I don't usually do pure soy but I had a bunch that I bought from someone and decided to give it a try. ladysj Posted January 4, 2007 Author Share Posted January 4, 2007 I'm on my 2nd burn at 5 1/2 hours with the 51-32-18 and I still have hang up on the glass more than I thought I would and more than is appropriate in my opinion. It's tunneling and the flame is flickering like it's not wanting to stay lit. Should I try a different wick or try wicking up on the z?
