newhobby
Hello,I made a candle with 1343 yesterday and one with KY Votive/Pillar Blend this morning. I was able to get the shrinking with 1343, but with the KY Votive/Pillar there is hardly any shrinking. I did poke the relief holes on both of them. Just wondering if there should be shrinking with the KY Votive/Pillar blend. Vickie/Chicago
Henryk
Sounds like you want shrinking. Yes, a paraffin like 1343 will shrink, as will others unless its specifically blended to shrink less or hardly none at all. (Like many container paraffin blends I believe - most of the ones I've tried did not really need much if any "top off").What you describe for the KY votive/pillar wax is usual also. I personally think its good you still stuck and poked relief holes - just for insurance. For pillars and votives with this wax you may get a sort of dip - I've tried playing around with pour temps with this and still get it.HTH

realmarcha
I have used the KY Votive/Pillar wax for quite a few years now for my votives. I have found there is shrinkage, but very little. If using it for jars, I would definately continue to poke the relief holes though. HTH
