Making my first votives...

Just a few questions. I searched, but was still not able to get a specific answer. So here goes...

Is there an amount of time I should let them cure to check the hot throw? I just want to hear what those of you who make votives do.

And, should I wait to test the burn until they cured, or am I ok test burning once they are set up.

I think that is all my ???'s so far...and wish me luck, I'm a little nervous!!!

I usually don't burn much at home, cause I can't smell anything there. But I've taken votives to work to burn the next day and they usually scent my office pretty well.

Now I read once, and I apply my testing habit to it as much as I can, not to burn any newly made candle for at least 12 hours to allow the ingredients to better combine.

Let them set up for 24 hours. They will perform better if they're well set.

Hi, I would at least let them cure for 24 hours to see if they have a good hot throw. If you are just testing the burn time you can do that as soon as you remove it from the votive cup. Hope the votives turned out well for you.

I always let any of my candles cure for 48 hours, regardless of size. I always think it's a shame to light a scented candle right after it's set just to test the burn time! Plus the 48 hours let your nose readjust to 'normal' so you can actually smell it.
