MoonShadow
Have any of you done this? If so, has it affected your wicking? I have been playing with this and it seems I have to wick DOWN, when I thought I'd need to wick up??? I'm adding 3 TBL per pound.
topofmurrayhill
I've never tried adding it to a parasoy blend, but stearic does lower the melting point of paraffin so maybe that's what's happening. Just a speculation.
Henryk
Since stearic has a melt point above most paraffins - how does this actually lower the melt point of paraffin?
topofmurrayhill
Since stearic has a melt point above most paraffins - how does this actually lower the melt point of paraffin? It's analogous to an alloy of two metals. The mixture of paraffin and stearic produces something with properties a little different from either one alone. It's called a eutectic.
