BrandNewToCandles
Wondering about my melt pool, too deep? The candle smells great! It's cherry...
Crafty1_AJ
About how long had the candle been burning when you took the photo?
BrandNewToCandles
Guess I should have mentioned that. About 30 - 45 minutes.
Candle Makin Momma
Wow that is way too fast to get a pool that deep
Candle Man
You should be wicking at 1" per hour for each inch in diameter. Example - A 3" diameter should reach a full melt pool in 3 hours with up to a 1/2" depth melt pool. Any faster means the wick is to large and you need to wick down. Also with to big of wick it will burn to fast and get to hot.
BrandNewToCandles
Thanks, that's what I thought... Smaller wick next time, then. Very helpful!!
BrandNewToCandles
Error in my earlier post, this melt pool was after 90 minutes, wrong notes...sorry! Still too fast, I know, but it makes a difference. I knew it was too good to be true, first candle looked look crap, second one looked good but no hot throw, third one had throw but smelled like crap, this one looked good and smelled good but the wick is too big. Guess this explains the need to test, test, test... Thanks for the input!!
Crafty1_AJ
Yes, that is pretty fast for that wide and deep a melt pool. I agree with the others; time to wick down!

I wish you luck!!Christina
