Candlelady4ever
catuslady, thanks for your input.I was wrong on the size. You dont have any smoke or sooting problems?
AngelaVA
Try wicking down to a 44-32. The hex jar is about the same diameter as a regular JJ, right? So the 44 might do the trick, since it sounds like you are overwicked with a 51.
Candlelady4ever
I did several searches...they all say 51-32-18z.Candlecauldron has a wick database.Same thing there. Im beginning to think its the neck narrowness(?) .I thought I would like this jar.Not one of my favorites at all.
AngelaVA
It may be worth a try to wick down and see what happens. You can also try a different wick type and see if that helps. Maybe an HTP or LX. For the record, I don't put much stock in the pick-a-wick database. I've seen some things in there that I really question. By the way, what type of wax are you using? Deb
I use J223, and zinc wicks in the hex jar and don't have sooting or smoking. I usually only use the 51 with the heavier FO's and the 44's with the lighter scents.
tootie04
I dont know how much help I can be but...I have only used the hex jars BUT I use soy wax. I am wick testing a para/soy mix and the LX14 is working wonderful in it. Patricia

Tess
I would try like a 44-28-18z for starters
cactusladycandles
i use the 51-32-18 all my color/fragrances. no problems with sooting as long as the wick is get to 1/4?" between burns. i tried the 44-32-18 zinc and didn't get a full melt pool. but i also heavily fragrance my jar candles because that is what my customers want. so some of the heavier fragrances do soot. but the hot throw is so awesome, they don't mind the soot. they just wipe the lip of before they burn again.I would try like a 44-28-18z for starters
