AngelaVA
I am making some unscented plain white votives for a friend's wedding. I usually use zinc wicks in my votives, but I am really not too fond of the way they burn (mushrooming, etc) and want to use a different wick for these wedding candles. Can anyone recommend a wick size for these. Not sure where to start since I've always used zinc. Remember, these are unscented and undyed. Thanks! katinka
Hi AngelaI did tests with zinc vs LX 10 or 12 and the burns on the LX was really good. When I am finished with all the zinc wicks I still have left, thats what I am going to switch over to because I hate the mushrooms!HTHKatinka;)
Karen B
LX wick's & superior wicks are my favorite wicks.(for votives) IF you can buy 1,000 at a time I'd recomend testing the superiors otherwise go for the LX's. JMHOKaren B
7Angela7
I use LX-12's in my votives and they burn well. If you are doing unscented and want to use LX's, I would test between the LX-10 & LX-12.
Margaritamama
I use LX-10, and they work well for me.
The_Dallas_Texas_Dean
I tested the LX and the HTP and chose the HTP for my Paraffin wax and the Eco for my Palm wax. I think it will be dependent on which wax and additives you have used.
AngelaVA
I'm using 4794 with nothing added in. I have a sampler pack of LX and HTP wicks, so I'll try both of those. Thanks for all the replies! Gives me a great place to start.
AngelaVA
One more question, if you don't mind. One reason I use the zincs is because I find that one size wick will work with 99% of my FOs (the 36z with 4794). I'm worried that if I change to LX wicks, I won't have a good "base wick size". Do you all find that one LX wick works with most of your FOs?
