SaraScribbles
Was wondering what the best way to color edible body butter and lip balm is?TIA,Sara
soulshine
Maybe food coloring for edible body butters? I know a lot of companies sell micas esp for lip balms... not sure how that would work for body butters... Oh, maybe the wilton cake icing dyes (for butters) they have a HUGE selection of colors.... just a thought....
SaraScribbles
I was thinking about the food coloring and I have a ton of wilton cake and candy colors, but wasn't sure if they'd turn your skin a funny color. What do you think? Thanks,Sara
Sherie
Hmmmm, they might stain. You could do a test patch to see.
soapermom
food color stains... when I had a real life job.. I was a chef:) , the cake colors also have other ingrediants like vegetable gum, sorbitol PG methylcellulose.. its best to use cosmetic colorants..gel tones, micas,I use basic 12 lab color dyes.. SaraScribbles
That's what I was afraid of. Can't use regular gel tones cause there not edible, I don't think. Maybe I'll just leave the edible stuff white...
scrubzz
The Sage has Lip Balm colorants - http://www.thesage.com/catalog/LipBalmColors,OilSoluble.htmlI would think these would also be able to be used in an edible body butter since they have been formulated for use on the lips? Bunny
I don't know.. Eating something and putting it on your lips might be totally different.. Just thinking out loud..Why not use different colored packaging to represent the different flavors? Or use the colors in your labels? Just to be on the safe side..
