maryann
I read that to harden M&P bases you can add bw instead of stearic acid. I was wondering if anyone does this and feels bw does a good job hardening the bases. TIA

elle110
I have never had a problem with soft M&P so have never added bw or stearic. Once time I made a recipe for a shampoo bar that used M&P and it called for bw and it made the soap to hard to even cut or useIf I tried it I would use a very small amountHope this helpsElle
maryann
Elle, do you mind me asking what base you use?? I'm just not happy w/ the bases I've tried so far. Thanks for the info as sometimes the information you read on the web is inaccurate so its nice to get feedback. Thanks
prairieannie
I've used beeswax in a couple of recipes for MP. It called for a very small amount, I'm thinking only 2 tBS of shredded, pp of MP. The soap didn't turn out too hard, but honestly, I don't think it ended up any harder than the bars I make without it. I've not had a problem with soft MP bars either. KMommy
I've used a Oatmeal M&P that was a little soft and the bar lasted only one week. That was with use by only two people at bath time. I haven't tried the beeswax yet.
