Mark
I am having a problem with this IGI 4786 container wax. I am tring to make a 8oz jelly jar container candle. I have made 6 with different fo's and color, 1oz per pound and 1 color chip, then made 4 with out anything, just the wax, and cannot get a full melt pool. I am pouring at 180 degrees, although that seems high to me for a container wax, thats what IGI and the suppliers have on there websites for a pouring temp for this wax, let them sit for 24 hours before i burn. I tried the LX-14, 16, 18, 20 and 22's, the Low smoke zinc 19, 21, 23, 25 and no matter what wick size, it only goes to about 2 - 2 1/4 inch diameter melt pool, leaving about 1/8 to 1/4 inch on the side of the jar. I was using Peaks performance container blend in these same jars, and using a LX-14 or 16 and was working great, but they quit making it so had to change waxes. Talk about pulling your hair out . I bought a case of this wax too, so I am really hoping i can get this to work. Any advice or suggestions on what i might be doing wrong? cindym
Try a 44-28 or a 44-32 zinc. I love this wax. Are you heating your jars, and doing a repour?
topofmurrayhill
How long is your test burn, and is the top flat? That relates to Cindym's question about the repour. Some of those LX wicks seem plenty big but if you stick them in a low MP wax with a concave surface they're gotta just get drowned and perform crappy. Mark
Yep and yep, I think I have it figured out, I moved all my testers to a bathroom that I dont use much, and it's alot colder in there, as in about 45-50 degrees, of coarse, it would of been warmer if i had opened the heat vent :embarasse . It just hit me about them being in a colder room after i wrote my first post about this problem. I moved them back to my kitchen and there catching up and melting the wax off the sides . Well, except the ones with the big wicks in them, 3-4 inch flames and smokie . 3 days of hair pulling and confusion over a cold bathroom, and it only took 3 days to figure it out, I'm such a noob. Thanks
Bonba
I use this wax and get by with a 14 or 16 LX except on rare occassions an 18. I also very much agree about the concave part. Strange how this colder weather makes such a difference.*getdown* *getdown* *getdown* Bonba
sudsnwicks
Glad you got it to work. By the way, pouring at 180 seems a bit high to me. I usually pour at 160 and then for the repour I do 10 degrees higher.

Just got my peaks order in today of some new fo's, and with this different wax, and the fo's i already have, i'll be pouring and testing for the next month or two.
