  1. Not with testing, but i just recieved a pound of French Vanilla in my order that has about an inch and a half of sludge in the bottom of the bottle, sent an e-mail to them about it last Thursday, and have'nt recieved a reply back yet. Been ordering from them for a while and never had a problem with any of there oils, until this bottle of French Vanilla.
  2. Can't really help with them questions, but if this will be a home based business, the first thing you need to do is contact your local planning/zoning commision to find out if you can have a business like this in your home. I went to check into getting my Tax ID and business license and i could get them, but the lady at the state info center told me to talk to the zoning commision first just to make sure i could do it from my home. Glad i called them before getting my tax id and DBA, cause they said "No way" can i do that out of my home. I then asked them about all the people making home made crafted items out of there houses to sell at craft fairs and flea markets, farmers markets etc. She said thats illegal too, according to the zoning codes. Of coarse, if your planning on having a store of your own, just forget all that i just wrote.
  3. I thought that was high too, I'll give the 160 a try, i'm still getting like a slime on the sides of the jars a little, think i'll just trash all these and start over. Just got my peaks order in today of some new fo's, and with this different wax, and the fo's i already have, i'll be pouring and testing for the next month or two. Thanks
  4. I order my wax, wicks, and dyes chips from them, very fast on shipping and great customer support. They just started the free 1oz of Fo of your choice with your order also. I order all my fo's from Peaks though. I guess i'll be going the slow route tring there fo's, freebie with every order
  5. Yep and yep, I think I have it figured out, I moved all my testers to a bathroom that I dont use much, and it's alot colder in there, as in about 45-50 degrees, of coarse, it would of been warmer if i had opened the heat vent :embarasse . It just hit me about them being in a colder room after i wrote my first post about this problem. I moved them back to my kitchen and there catching up and melting the wax off the sides . Well, except the ones with the big wicks in them, 3-4 inch flames and smokie . 3 days of hair pulling and confusion over a cold bathroom, and it only took 3 days to figure it out, I'm such a noob. Thanks
  6. Here's a handy calculater for finding out how much wax is needed in containers. http://www.candletech.com/calculator/container.php
  7. I am having a problem with this IGI 4786 container wax. I am tring to make a 8oz jelly jar container candle. I have made 6 with different fo's and color, 1oz per pound and 1 color chip, then made 4 with out anything, just the wax, and cannot get a full melt pool. I am pouring at 180 degrees, although that seems high to me for a container wax, thats what IGI and the suppliers have on there websites for a pouring temp for this wax, let them sit for 24 hours before i burn. I tried the LX-14, 16, 18, 20 and 22's, the Low smoke zinc 19, 21, 23, 25 and no matter what wick size, it only goes to about 2 - 2 1/4 inch diameter melt pool, leaving about 1/8 to 1/4 inch on the side of the jar. I was using Peaks performance container blend in these same jars, and using a LX-14 or 16 and was working great, but they quit making it so had to change waxes. Talk about pulling your hair out . I bought a case of this wax too, so I am really hoping i can get this to work. Any advice or suggestions on what i might be doing wrong?
  8. Peaks, have tried 2 other suppliers, but they don't come close to Peaks Fo's.
  9. I now have Mt.Dew all over my screen, :laugh2: :laugh2:
  10. I use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the tab from my tester jars that I re-use for testing.
  11. No wicks, just a little scented wax so they can smell it. There about the size of a tea-light maybe a little smaller, each one has a see through lid that seals them up pretty tight.
  12. I just bought one of these; http://www.atwixend.com/product_info.php?products_id=243&category_id=2
  13. Very nice, thats my favorite scent from Peaks.
  14. I have a 1500 watt heat gun I use, it has a "low" and "high" button on the trigger. I always use the "low" to heat my containers or molds on my wooden kitchen counter top with paper towels under them, never had a problem yet, just make sure and don't hold it on one spot of your containers or molds or on anything for that matter, for to long, it will get hot. It is kinda difficult to level the tops of the containers, because of the blowing it does, but i just move it back and forth kinda like fanning it, again on the "low" setting, and it works pretty good. Good luck.
  15. Peaks for me, every FO i've tried has been great.
