pixie
Hey guys, I just wanted to remind everyone who works with lye to always follow safety precautions. I was mixing up a batch of cp and since I've been making soap for many years now I've recently gotten a little lax in donning all my safety equipment. I was wearing short sleeves during the soap making process instead of long sleeves and wouldnt you know it..I was happily stick blending my lye into the oils when I noticed my arm started to itch a little bit. You experienced soap makers probably know the kind of itch Im talking about. Its unmistakable and only happens when lye hits your skin. Sure enough, there was a nice size red spot on my arm. Funny thing is, I didnt even notice when the lye first hit me, it must of been the teenest tiny splatter when I was stick blending but I sure feel it now. Candybee
Hope you are feeling better now. I've caught myself forgetting on occasion. A reminder helps.I think gloves are the worst. I hate getting sweaty hands inside my gloves-- especially during the hot humid summer days.
