  1. I made a batch of soap on last night. It was  activated charcoal soap swirled with white. I noticed the white portion of the swirls looked like cottage cheese. The activated charcoal portion was absolutely perfect. Has anyone experienced this before? I stick blended the TD portion and it did get kinda thick / clumpy. The Black portion I did not stick blend long at all, and again, the black soap portion was a perfect consistancy from start to finish. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  2. I have a quick question - I have ordered just the basic oils to make soap. Are there any suggestions as to what kind of and where to get a nice purple color? Also where to get a nice lavender scent?  I have smelled lavender, but I never liked any that I have smelled. I may need to blend something, but what ever help you can give I greatly appreciate.

    Thanks.

  3. I understand to wick down, which I went from a CD 10 to a CD 8. It has been a 1/2 hour and give or take another 1/2 hour, the MP  will have reached the sides. The top of the jar is already hot. - BTW - I am using a 16 oz. Apothecary jar. 1 oz Mac Apple and 6006 wax. The previous melt pool was 1/2 inch in 3 - 4 hours and the jar pretty hot -- mind you, the jar has not even burned down half way yet. There was also a burnt wick type of smell going on. My question is - besides wicking down, has any one found that a smaller HTP wick burns good for the Apothecary jar? I have size 5 CD's but I don't have any CD 6's.

  4. For those of you that make only white candles - I made a candle using Blueberry Cheese Cake FO. When the candle solidified after burning, where the melt pool was - was a dirty color and the rest / bottom of the candle was the normal color.  Do you add stabilizer to your white candles for bakery scents / or all scents, or do you use something else?

    Thanks

  5. I am wondering - are there any of the basic florals that do not really move during the spring? By basic, I mean Jasmine, Hyacinth, Honeysuckle, lilac, gardenia, lily of the valley, plumeria, freesia, magnolia, peony, rain....  basically most suppliers carry these apart from their Fancy Blends. Also are there any "Must Have" florals that customers act as if they will pass out if you dont have the scent?  I need to get some florals in my wax (6006) so I can go nuts pouring. It is a strange little addiction that I find peace in.  Anyway, all suggestions will be appreciated.

  6. Ok-  If the spicy lovers could chime in. I am trying to narrow down the spicy type scents to just 5 must haves for now. I havent ordered any yet, but  I have on my list:

    Apple and Pumpkin Strudel

    Apple Cinnamon

    Baked Apples

    Celtic Moon Spice

    Cracklin Birch

    Cinnamon Vanilla

    Grandmas Kitchen

    Hillbilly Homebrew

    Iced Cinnamon Buns

    Pumpkin Bread

    Pumpkin Pie Spice

    Sweet Potato Spice

My questions is- in your experiences, does any of these smell like the other?  I dont want to order any that smell the exact same.  The majority are from AH / RE.

  7. Thanks -- I will go ahead and place an order based off of what you all have listed. I am burning blueberry cheese cake from CS and I have BRV from CS burning in the Bathroom. The family has been commenting on the BRV - the throw is very strong. - Its just that I am very picky. I just wish it had just a bit of sweetness to it. -

    Anyway, thanks!!

  8. I am placing an order for bakery scents to test. I will be ordering from AH / RE and also Natures Garden. I get completely overwhelmed and need to narrow down my choices. Are there any must haves that you guys can suggest from either place that has a pretty decent cold and hot throw?  I will test using IGI 6006.  -- I hope someone can direct me to strong blueberry cobbler or cheesecake also.

    Thanks.

  9. Just a question for the seasoned Chandlers. -  The Aqua blue candle is Bite Me - at a 6% FO Load. But the Flame is high. This is at just about 4 Hours. There is no MR on the Wick. The wick is a CD 14. If I go down to a CD 12, I may run into Melt Pool issues.

Now on the other hand, the green candle with the Huge MR - that is Oak Moss and Amber at a 6%. I was just fooling around with Soy 415- the wick is a CD 14. It is the first burn. I will go down a wick size on this one.  All these candles has a CD 14.

The Purple / pink one is Botanical Orchard and Nectar. 8%.- The CD 14 seems ok so far for it.  I am at a loss for when I have a high Flame, but the melt pool hasn't reached the sides comfortably. The Throw is so / so with this scent. The other 2 are pretty strong.  Should I try a totally different wick in the Aqua Colored Bite me?
