  1. I used 4630 wax and an 8oz flint jar and an 8oz tapered jelly jar. The jelly jar sooted really bad, the flint jar was fine.
  2. I have been using the CD wicks and I find that they leave terrible black soot on the jars as they are burning. Am I doing something wrong? It doesn't seem to matter how much or little fragrance I put, it still soots. Do the zinc wicks do the same thing?
  3. Great job, they are beautiful!!
  4. I have used Htp and Cd wicks for different size containers and my results always vary. I can't get a good ideal of which wicks to use and I'm becoming frustrated. Do you need to change wicks with each fragrance, if you are using the same wax each time? I know you need to use different wick sizes for different container sizes, but I would like to get with one kind of wick and stay with it. Any suggestions are appreciated!!
  5. I am new to making candles, and I recently took a look at Yank-- Candles, and I was shocked!! I was not impressed with the look or smell of the candles, and can't imagine why people would pay $25 for such crap. I think people are buying them because of the name, I can't see any other reason why they would waste their hard earned dollar. It's a shame small businesses that strive to give the public a good product for their money, is overshadowed by bigger companies that could care less
  6. Can anyone tell me if "Just Scent" and "Just Scents" are the same company? Also, has anyone tried Just Scent? Are the oils pure or diluted? Do they have a good throw? I want to place a large order, but I don't want weak fragrances that will be a waste of my money and time!! Any suggestions would help!!
  7. After visiting a website in which a person makes a candle with a certain fragrance then lists the results, they keep referring to CBL 125 as the wax they are using. Can someone tell me what CBL 125 is? Thanks
  8. I am new to the candle business and I am trying to figure out which fragrances work best. I bought some inventory from a candle maker going out of business, which included various fragrances from different suppliers. I made several candles with two different fragrances that were from a soap company and I'm finding the throw very weak. My question is, are fragrances bought from a soap company milder or more diluted than those of a candle company? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
