  1. I just started reading through these posts and I found a similar question a couple of pages over. That'll teach me not to read first, then post later!
  2. Hi, I have never ordered from Aroma Haven, but I heard that their Coconut Lime Verbana is fantastic, so I thought I would ask for some of your favorites. I would use their fragrances in IGI 1343 pillars and J223 containers.
  3. If it must be five, then: 1. Hot Cocoa (Peaks)- I'm dieting, so at least I can smell chocolate! 2. Clean Cotton (Peaks) Very fresh 3. My Mama's Blueberry Cobbler -see #1 4. Sugar Cookie -see #1 5. Cinnamon Cider - makes me think of fall
  4. Hi, I remember a couple of months back, during the winter, when everyone was talking about getting sore throats or a headache while they were pouring candles. Go to search and type in sore throat and it will come up with a respirator subject line in one of the hits. Since we are constantly working with fragrance and wax, it would probably be beneficial to get a face mask, especially when dealing with some strong scents. I believe some thought that it is more of a problem during the winter because we keep the house closed up. Something to think about, safety first!
  5. Earthy colors are my favorite! I wish I could smell it! Keep posting those pictures!
  6. Those look wonderful, now I want to see some of your candles that you think are awesome! What kind of wax did you use?
  7. Thank you for the tips on the CLV. I have a few ladies at work who like the scent and I thought I would try making some candles with it. I will give Aroma Haven a try, and I'll post pics when I'm done.
  8. I looooooooooove this scent, but I have problems with the oil weeping out of the wax. Anyone else know how to solve this problem with this particular scent?
  9. Unfortunately there aren't any of the J-waxes available, only IGI. If someone can tell me the pros and cons of the IGI container waxes I would be grateful! Thanks!
  10. I adore BBW's Coconut Lime Verbena, and I was curious about NG's fragrance. I would be using it for non-soy containers and pillars. Any thought on the quality of its throw?
  11. Hi, I live in Northern California and it seems like no one has J223 in California or in the surrounding states. Most suppliers have the IGI waxes, so I was thinking about switching. What IGI container wax would be comprable to the J223? I need to make containers soon.....
  12. I need to make an eggplant colored candle, any suggestions on how to get this color using 1343 wax?:undecided
  13. Hey Pam! I'm in Phoenix on business and I heard today that my Peaks shipment arrived at work! I'm looking forward to the weekend too, I have lots n lots of 1 ozers I want to try out, plus I'm getting a lot of new 3" molds. What types of candles are you going to make this weekend? Pillars, containers, votives???
  14. Well, here are my next two installments. The green and yellow is apple and vanilla, and the blue chunky is scented rain. I'm still conducting my burn test on these babies, we'll see which wick wins!! Thanks for all of your supportive comments, this is such a nice place to come to after a hectic day at work!!
  15. Y'all are so sweet! I had one layer red, then one layer oragne, layer red, then orange and the overpour was yellow 3"X6.5". I'm doing my first test burn right now. They smell really great, I came in from my bike ride this morning and it just smelled great when I walked in. I have gotten smarter with my chunks, I poured some green this morning and 2lbs of wax seems to be the right thickness and I had a very flat trivet so the wax cooled level. I'm off to make green (apple) and yellow (vanilla). Woo hoo!
  16. Thanks, for the tip. I thought it might be rustic. Some of my chunks were fairly rustic, I knew for one pan I wasn't pouring hot enough. We'll see what's on the agenda for tomorrow...
  17. Woah! That's not a candle, it's a building! Soooooooo pretty! You have a lot of patience, maybe one day I'll get there! Keep the pictures coming, you're very inspiring!
  18. Those look really nice, and I also wouldn't mind seeing what's inside!
  19. I did have fun today, I made candles while I watched college football all day long! Go Seminoles! Now is the whiteness I'm seeing rustic or mottling, or both?
  20. This is a day of firsts for me! I made my first chunks and then I made my first chunky candles with wax I hadn't used before! I have red chunks that smell like cinnamon and orange chunks that smell like pumpking spice. The overpour is warm vanilla sugar. This is the first time I've used this 140 mp wax from Genwax. I didn't use any additives because I wasn't sure how translucent the wax would be. Anyhew, now I get to do my wick test. I'm hooked now! OK, I hope these pictures show up, otherwise I feel kinda foolish!:embarasse
  21. In case anyone was interested, Cierra finally has new waxes. For a 60 lb. case it will cost $53.75. They do have free shipping for any orders over $99, but this does not go for wax. Anyhew, just thought I would throw that out there to my fellow Californians/
  22. I just received a shipment from Genwax this week and everything was fine. I ordered the 140 mp pastilles, they didn't seal up the bag, but luckily there wasn't wax all over the place. I also got some additives and they were in ziploc bags and marked with a sharpee. I'll let you know what I think of their wax, this will be the first time I will have tried their wax. Cross your fingers!:rolleyes2 Now I also received a shipment from Peaks today, and I was very impressed with their shipment. Every bottle was wrapped and very organized. I bought a bunch of sample fragrances and can't wait to try them. Lemon poundcake and Blueberry Muffin mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
  23. I've ordered a samples of this from Peak's - I am curious about what it's supposed to smell like. Would this be a good Christmassy scent?
  24. I am so sorry to hear you are having such a tough time. Don't give up, maybe if you get a good night's sleep things will go smoother. If you can, post your pics when you finished your layers, I've never done one and I think it would look great!
  25. Hi Andrea, Does this wax mottle if you don't use any additives? Have you used it to make rustics? What kind of pillars did you make with it? I'm just full of questions!
