Fern-Marie, What are friends for if we can't hash something out together, I didn't get mad at you, I was just trying to clarify what I THOUGHT was right, but if I wasn't I would want someone to tell me. but I sure appreciate someone taking an interest in my thoughts. You can jump in anytime you want if you think I'm wrong.
  5. Fern Marie, I really appreciate the help. I don't want to get in trouble either. I was pouring my tart in the white paper liners from wal-mart and they were weighing out at .7 which is 3/4 of an oz, .75, Now I poured some in the small muffin pan to see what they would weigh. My scale reads 0-lbs,0-oz's,0-tenths ( 0.0.9 ) If I put just a little piece of wax on top of that .9 it just to 1oz. so the tart is just shy 1 tenth of an oz to make a complete oz. So how could the .9 be 5/8 of an oz, on my scale it show .6 as being 5/8 of an oz. The reason I say this is I have a scale that I bought from wal-mart, I put some wax on that scale to weigh out 5/8oz, then put it on the new scale and it showed .6 beeing 5/8 opf an oz. That sounds like a good idea of not putting the weight on the tarts at all. I know 5/8 + 5/8 is 1 1/4. Maybe the muffin pan I have isn't the mini one, I probably calling it wrong.
  6. My scale weighs in tenths, so I just 1 tenth off from an oz, I will try and look around for another pan, but for now I will put 2 to a package and put approx. 2oz's Thanks for all the suggestion everyone
  7. Thanks Lynns, never thought of that. Does anyone know if there is a mini muffin pan that holds the 1oz?
  8. Would like to know what everyones thoughts are. I'm pouring tarts into the mini muffin pan, no papers, they are weighing out at .9, can I say that they are 1oz? They won't hold anymore, when I tried, I ended up getting a thin ridge that sticks out on the edges and breaks off. I put the weight on my packaging. Or do I need to find another way?
  9. BizzyBs, I'm doing wholesale myself and was thinking about do the same thing. but didn't know what I should put together. If you don't mind sharing What do you put into the wholesale packets and your introduction letter, besides requesting a free sample of your candles
  10. Hey geek, Pearberry 1 1/4oz per lb. dye, 1 1/8 smidgen of yellow and green, I did get a 3/8"mp but in 3 hrs. I guess it's burning too fast, maybe 2 Htp-73's would do better? Or do you think the 73's would be too small? Thanks for the help.

  13. Jason, Is the 474 a soy blend wax? it doesn't have paraffin in it? The 416 has to be poured into paper liners when making tarts? you can't pour them into tarts molds can you?
  14. Thanks Glowlite, I'll keep your suggestion in mind about the post cards. I have already wrote down alot of the different florist and gift shops in the surrounding area. I have made up a brochure for retail/buyers with the wholesale prices of my products, which right now only consist of 8oz jj and tarts. I'm going to have to do the follow ups like everyone is suggesting. Thanks again

  16. Got my samples yesterday, but no general directions with it. Could someone tell me what temp to add FO and pouring temp for LP-416 & 474? What does LP stand for? Apprecitate any help
  17. TO PROSPECTIVE WHOLESALE BUYERS. Has anyone done this to drum up some new accounts? If so, what else do you send with the brochure. Do you send samples? Trying to get my name out there without driving all over the country, The towns around me are kinda far apart, I thought maybe trying to mail brochures out might help some. There aren't very many craft shows around. I have my candles in a few local shops. Any help would be appreciated
  18. Tony THANK YOU VERY MUCH, :yay: That's partly the way I was reading it, but wasn't sure. I was reading 5/10 as 1/2oz, and figuring 6/10 as 3/4oz. Thanks to everyone I've learn a little more math
  19. angie, that's what I thought of, dividing by 2. But how do you know how many oz's in 4/10? I'm trying to make tarts using 2 parts Ky all natural v/p wax & 1 part Ky-125 with cotton seed. how do I determine how much wax I use of the all natural v/p & how much of KY-125? example,See if the scale is reading 05.2, how much is the .2? I know it's tenths, but is it 1/8oz or is it 1/4oz or what? Maybe it would be ALOT easier weighing by grams. Thanks everyone for the help
  20. donna I'm still not understanding, soon I will have all gray hair... lol I'm not good when it comes to math with fractions and percentages, how did you break down 8 tenths to 4/5? Are you dividing by 2? How do you figure how many tenths make 1/4oz? maybe I should try grams, Thanks donna,,,
  21. I know how to figure what you said donna, I don't think I explained myself correctly. Let me try and explain again. For example 16oz, I pour my melted wax into my tared out measuring cup, the scale is reading 15.8---Or if I pour 8oz of wax for tarts, with measuring cup tared out, the scale reads 07.8. My question is how do you read the .8? How do you read 06.1, 06.2, 06.3, etc.... I thought the 00.1 was 1/8 of an oz. 00.2 was 1/4 of an oz If i switch to grams I still don't have any idea on how much 1/4oz would be. is there a chart some where? I tried searching for one, but came up with nothing. Thanks everyone for the help
  22. Bought this new scale that weighs in tenths of an ounce. Does anyone know of a chart that tells how much 1/4oz,3/8oz,5/8oz,3/4oz, in tenths? I thought I had it figured out, But not coming up with the full amount I'm suppose to have. Any help at all please.
