  1. Oh yea, they would definitely be too big for a 7 inch bear.
  2. Have you looked at either the Doll Making section of your craft store?? I've also found things at Build-A-Bear.
  3. WTF? How are we going to get mail??? Of course that end that feeling of dread I get when I open my mailbox and there's nothing but bills in there.
  4. I'm burning a test candle right now that was made with Peak's Watermelon and it smells great
  5. I know exactly what you are talking about. They have that in a shop in the Spillikin Corners area at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Or they used to anyways. He doesn't need to buy raw wick spools, as he probably doesn't want to make his own tapers. He probably just wants to order the tapers already made and have the vats of different colored waxes. The customer then buys the tapers from him and just dips them in the different colored waxes to design the candles. The tapers are already made, they just color them. My uncle used to take me to Six Flags at least twice a year when I was growing up. Every single time I made a set of tapers at Spillikin Corners. We also used to go and watch them make taffy.
  6. I will have to swing by & grab some to try. Hubby will get so excited when I ask if we can stop by O'reilly's! ROFL
  7. I tried the hot glue, when I poured the wax in, the glue softened and the wick detached from the bottom of the container. Wait, so with the HTP wicks, if I twist them a few times they will not burn to one side like I am experiencing with my latest tester???
  8. Ok, I've seen 3 different jars be called a Salsa Jar. One looked like a jelly jar, one looked like a straight sided jar and one looked like a mayonaisse jar. Can you all link me to a real salsa jar please?
  9. I thought that was part of what caused wet spots? The wax not cooling slow enough?
  10. Thanks for all the replies! I went ahead and ordered these http://www.ebay.com/itm/370342090887?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
  11. And how do you hold the wick tight? Sorry if these are obvious answer questions.
  12. For those of you who double wick, how do you hold your wicks in place? I am having an issue with the 2 sticks rubber banded on the ends. When I put the jars in the oven to heat them, the bands melt & break. Is there a such thing as a double wick holder tool thingy???
  13. The one thing I have learned in my 8 years on ebay & paypal is that there is no rhyme or reason to anything they do! LOL It is a pain in the arse, but Paypal is sometimes a necessary evil for a alot of small business owners. I really am sorry you're having to deal with this.
  14. That really sucks. Some CC processing companies do the same thing with new accounts though.
  15. This is odd, I just got an email from them this morning telling me about their Facebook page. I have no idea how they got my email address, I have never done business with them.
  16. Gold Canyon Candles are quite popular out here in Arizona. Mostly because they are made here. I watched a spotlight on a news program or something a while back and if I remember correctly it started out as 2 women who made candles as a hobby, much like how everyone here started out. I run a Gold Canyon fundraiser every year for my cheer teams. They really are great candles and they pay out a nice profit to the girls. They put Yankee Candles to shame.
  17. I think with stuff like that people like to feel like they are getting 'special treatment' or something for being a loyal customer. It just generally makes them feel better to be able to call in their order. If giving them that warm fuzzy feeling is part of what keeps them coming back, I say let them call. LOL
  18. Thanks so much guys! This is why I love this board, everyone is a wealth of knowledge.
  19. I will have to give them a call and see if maybe they have a print catalog they can send. Thanks for the heads up though, that would be cool if I could do pick up.
  20. I was only asking because I dabble in photography and I am pretty darn good. I was just wondering if taking ones own photos was something others had tried, as I may try it myself should I ever decided to go into business with this candle thing.
  21. No worries at all on the hijack! We are both in the same boat it seems. I am not in a position to order large quantities as I am just starting out and just picking out a jar to start testing. I picked up a case of the 9oz hex jars at peaks, but I'm not sure if I am liking them or not.
  22. Pardon my ignorance, but what is DPG?
