  1. The folks at Candle Source are GREAT. My favorites are: Clothes Line Butter Cream Buttermint (makes your mouth water!!) Coffee Carmel Cream Cake Bake I use their soy wax too - love it!
  2. At Wix's End makes a Warm Vanilla Sugar that customers tell me is dead on. I can't stand the smell, so I had friends and family test it - they said it was moderately strong to strong in soy.
  3. I'm looking for a TRUE dark chocolate scent. I'd like to blend it with some fruits and vanilla's and I'm afraid I'll get something that smell like a scratch and sniff book. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  4. At Wix End makes a GREAT Mulled Cider. Two of my co-workers have bought it for their home and the cold through is so strong they keep votives on their desks for the scent.
  5. I absolutely LOVE this scent, but I haven't been able to find a dup to make my own! According to their website Serenity is "This sweet scent brings to mind happier times filled with notes of pineapple, mint, apples, and cake." Does anyone out there have a suggestion to a similar scent? One of my new year's resolutions was to STOP buying candles because I MAKE them. Thanks all!
  6. That's ok, I think I'll play around with it. I talked to her about doing unscented, but she will not hear of it. She's carrying hydrangeas and all the table decorations are silk hydrangeas and she wants the scent. Not pleasant. I have several months, so I'm going to order the Hydrangea from NG and play (maybe half scented, the other half 3%). Thanks for the help though!
  7. I was wondering if anyone out there found a straight Hydrangea scent that was true to the flower? I'm not a fan of florals, so I'm a TERRIBLE judge. Also, I need the scent for a TON of wedding candles I'm starting. This leads me to my next question - The bride wants 160 votives, 10 medium pillars and 10 4 wick pillars. She doesn't know the exact size of the room, but it fits 60 eight person tables, plus a small bar, so it's a big room. I'm wondering the ratio of scented vs unscented. Initially, she wanted them ALL scented at normal, but I think that's way too much. SO now I'm wondering if I should scent everything at 3% instead of my normal 6% or just scent half at 6% or is THAT too much still? GACK - why did I volunteer for this (it better drum up some business). Thanks all!
  8. I have to make 160 votives for a relative's wedding and she also wants me to supply the votive holders. She said she just wanted simple clear glass holders. Does anyone know of any places where I can buy them as inexpensively as possible? Thanks in advance!
  9. Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement. With 7 other chandlers at a show with only about 60 vendors total, I was happy with 15X my booth fee. I've got the fever - bring em on!
  10. I was setting up for my very first craft show this evening and I'm in a room next to another candle maker. No problems there I was quite pleased with my set up. They saw I was selling candles as well and one of them said something to the effect - "We've got the best store - going to do mighty well tomorrow" (followed by hyena like laugh). Now, they didn't say it to me, but they could have waited until they were out of earshot. Just bugged me a little. I'm already nervous enough. Thanks for listening and wish me luck!!:smiley2:
  11. I have to keep my Twigs and Berries Candles from At Wix End in a separate box because the scent has made the other jars smell. I'm not a fan of that fragrance, but it sells really well!
  12. Totally Scrumptious is one of my all time favs!! I also really like jelly donut, Effervescent Fizzy Pop, Sage and Citrus, Oxygen and Rosemary Mint.
  13. I've got one of these - so much easier to get through the revolving door at work! http://www.atwixend.com/product_info.php?products_id=243&category_id=2
  14. As I write, I'm getting ready to pour another batch of Mulled Cider from At Wix End . It's really popular with my customers and it's 15.99 a pound.
  15. These are my top 5 for the last couple weeks. Peaks Creamy Praline Pecan Lemon Poundcake (at wix end) Peaks Sweet Pumpkin Spice At Wix End Grandma's Kitchen Nature's Garden Chrismas Cabin (it's getting cold!!!)
  16. Have you tried going to www.scentforum.com for other scent reviews? I've used it when ordering samples of certain fragrances and I've been happy with the information I found on there. You can search by scents, category or company. Worth a try on the ones you haven't found out about!
  17. I am lucky enough to leave just a few miles from The Candle Source (located in West Carrollton Ohio). The people who work there are great - down to earth and TONS of help. Their Butter Mint is intoxicating it smells so good. Happy Candling!
  18. I'm preparing for my first craft show in two months and I was only planning on doing candles, but the demand for my wax dipped bears has gotten me thinking I should add some to the inventory. So far, I've only done "bears to order" and I'm not sure how far in advance I can do a bear and still have them remain fresh. I'd hate to sell a bear that someone is going to have a use a hair dryer on right away. Any hints so I can get my bears started and I'm not pulling my hair out 2 days before the show? Thanks! Heather
  19. I'm in LOVE with the Sweet Pumpkin Spice from Peaks Candle Supply. It smells like the fragrance of the same name from Bath and Bodyworks. The throw is great both hot and cold in quite a few different soy waxes. I use about 1 oz per pound. I wouldn't say it's "knock you out strong", but I could smell it in my 16x24 great room very well.
